How I work

I currently practice with Husch Blackwell. This site is my personal library of checklists and writing.

I defend employers in labor and employment disputes and handle commercial litigation in Michigan and Ohio. My clients work in manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, and technology.

Learn the business first. Facts shape a case. I look for them on plant floors, in dispatch logs, and in scheduling systems. I spend time inside a client’s operation before forming a theory of the case. That work helps me build arguments that hold up in discovery, at deposition, and in front of a jury.

Give a clear recommendation. In-house teams have enough open questions. I explain what I recommend, why, and what risks it carries. I use plain English and keep it short enough to read between meetings.

Treat the budget as part of the case. I assess the case early, give an honest forecast, and flag changes that affect cost.

Decisions made long before anyone calls outside counsel shape most disputes. I publish these legal checklists and guides to help your team catch problems early.
